The Long Road to Arizona

The drive to Arizona was relatively uneventful. Due to the trailer, I could only go 55 to 60 MPH. There's a whole lotta nuthin' between San Antonio and El Paso. The long drive gave me time to think, pray, worry, be happy, be depressed, basically run the full gamut of emotions. I stopped every couple of hours to fill up with gas or stretch my legs. Things came to a standstill in the El Paso rush hour traffic, so it took longer to get to New Mexico than I anticipated. About 16 1/2 hours, and 850 miles later, I arrived in Sierra Vista, AZ -- to spend the night at my brother and sister-in-law's place. They had set up a comfortable air bed for me. I brought the cats in and the few things I needed for the night. Everything was great, except the boy cat didn't want to stay in the room with me... he needed someplace to hide. I finally gave up around 12:30 am Arizona time (2:30 am, CST) and opened the door and let him find someplace in the apartment. (The next morning, we found him under a shelf in the kitchen.) When I awoke on Friday morning, I ate some breakfast, loaded the cats back in the van and headed for our new apartment in Tucson (a little over an hour away).
