Father's Day, June 19th
I woke up around 7:30 am, knowing I had to get ready to drive to Phoenix to pick up Kristina and the kids. Their flight was leaving at 9:40 am CST, and arriving in Phoenix at 10:20 am MST. I gave myself two hours to get to the airport, find a parking space and get inside to greet them. It only took about 1 1/2 hours, so I was a little early. As I waited, I realized how much I missed my family! I hadn't seen the kids in a week, and it was lonely in the apartment without everyone around. When the kids saw me, they came running screaming "Daddy!!!" and gave me big hugs. All was well. I almost didn't recognize Kristina as she had her hair done while I was gone and it was much lighter than the last time I'd seen her. But it looked good, and so did she!!
We got their luggage and headed back to Tucson. The kids fought the whole way and really annoyed us. They finally fell asleep about 45 minutes from apartment and took a little nap.
Shortly after we arrived at the apartment, Curby & Stephanie arrived to spend the day with us. Stephanie brought some food (brownies! sloppy joes! chips! sodas!), an air mattress for the kids to sleep on, along with some pillows and bed linens. They also brought us a basket of margarita mixes, glasses, etc. as a housewarming gift. A strong margarita sounds like a great idea!
We hung out at the empty apartment for a while, and the kids were overjoyed to see their aunt and uncle. They also watched the kids while Kristina and I made a run to Wal-Mart (I love Wal-Mart) to get a few essentials.
Afterwards, we all went out to dinner at a nearby Mexican restaurant called "Olé". It was pretty good, though they don't have queso dip on the menu. Weird. And the enchiladas are served flat, not rolled up. But the food was good. The kids, however, were particularly naughty during dinner. Especially Kolton. I had to take him to the restroom for a talking to twice. I think they were getting tired.
After dinner (which Curby had to pay for because I left my wallet back at the apartment), Curby and Stephanie headed back home to Sierra Vista, and we headed back to the apartment to get ready for bed.
Later that night I called David The Truck Driver to see if he was on his way. His truck still wasn't repaired... they had to get a part and it wouldn't be in until Monday morning. Nice. There was no way we would be getting our stuff on Monday!
